mix it up..

So I went to B&Q to get paint for the set, which is going to be wood panelling effect (I really hope this works....!)  Anyway, I merrily danced in and found the paint aisles.  Only then did the realisation hit me.  Most people do not paint their walls chocolate brown and black.  Dammit.

Salvation appeared, however, in the form of the paint-mixing counter.  Hurrah!  Anyone who's never seen this done, go and watch.  It's amazing!  How do they make a pot of white paint black?!  You'd think adding black to white you'd end up with grey, but no...  I am suitably impressed and also pleased I did not give in to the temptation of allocating more of my set budget to costumes, as 5L of specially mixed paint does not come cheap (£25.98, to be precise - I hope I have enough paint or my budget is screwed...)

So now I'm all set for a painting bonanza on Sunday.  Anyone in the Highgate area come along and join me!

the sound of silence (or rather, cannon fire...)

*preens*

Very proud of myself.  I have been sound editing all afternoon and have actually managed to get everything to work.

Understand that I am in no shape or form a 'techie'.  I am creative, artistic - not made for understanding computers and editing programs.  And yet I have managed to:
(a) download an editing package from the internet*
(b) get it to work
(c) download the file conversion package, due to the damn file I wanted to use being in m4a format, when I needed a .wav file
(d) get that to work
(e) burn the resulting edit to CD

One small step for man, one giant leap for actress-kind.

* if anyone is looking for such a thing, I can highly recommend db power amp - it's a free download and very efficient
