Foolish People
I amgoing to see this tonight. I have no idea what to expect, but my friend Pete is in it and I always try to support my fellow actors. More tomorrow, once I've seen it...

Foolish People - The Verdict
Well, there was a guy in a gimp mask, a woman getting her eyes gouged out, an attempted rape of said woman, full-frontal nudity by a girl with the body of a child (yes, that does include no pubic hair) apart from her enormous silicone boobs, partial nudity from another girl, sapphic kisses... And yet the thing I found most offensive was the script, which was just too dire to contemplate. I was not surprised to learn that the entire thing was devised by the guy who played the lead role, as well as directing and writing the final script. Control freak? No, surely not... But they did play 'When the Body Speaks' by Depeche Mode as the play-out music, so the evening wasn't entirely wasted. |

For a brief moment...
...I considered going out into the garden to cut roses to replace the lovely flowers that the BF gave me to say good luck for the show, which are now sadly past their best. Then I opened the back door. It's still raining. And cold. I shut the door and retreated to the safety of the sofa. |

Lordy...
As my favourite flirt is out to dinner with his official lady friend, I have just watched this to while away the evening. And blow me down with a feather if it didn't feature my mortal enemy from drama school! She's just as awful as ever, but her awfulness was quite eclipsed by her horrendous mother (who was, thankfully, voted out this week). I almost began to feel sorry for her. Almost, I said. |

Hearts and flowers and Italian restaurants
The Architect and I decided that, to celebrate the momentous occasion of us having made it to 2 years (count 'em!) together, we would go out for a lovely, romantic meal. The place decided upon for said meal was Le Piaf, a restaurant just off Leicester Square that we have been to on various occasions before and very much enjoyed (the inept French waiter only serving to heighten the experience!). We met in Waxy's Little Sister, being the closest even vaguely bearable pub, for a quick drink and then wandered down. As we walked along the street, alarm bells started vaguely ringing. I thought to myself, 'this doesn't look quite right...' We looked at each other and then walked back along the street to make sure... The restaurant had gone! Vanished! Kaput! To be replaced by a rather trendy-looking Japanese place, which was SO not what we were after at that particular point in time. Oh no! What to do now?! So we walk back up into Soho, thinking that we'd try the rather nice-looking little place on Lexington Street that we keep seeing on our trips to the John Snow. But... foiled again! It's only got about 20 covers and is booked up ALL NIGHT (not bad for a Tuesday night - must try and get in there sometime....) Desperation is beginning to set in. We were both hungry before we left Waxy's and now the hunger is threatening to make us both grouchy and ruin our evening completely. Where to go?! We wander a little bit further away from our usual stomping ground, up into Fitzrovia... ...where we find a lovely little Italian place - hurray! It's on Charlotte Place and has enough people in there to make it welcoming, but not so many that we feel crowded. The lighting is just right, the music is Rat Pack standards, the decor warm, the wine not at all bad (for Italian wine) and the food delicious. I think we may have struck romantic meal gold... |

Grrr...
The people 2 floors up from me are having their kitchen done at the moment. However, the kitchen fitters have decided to do all their VERY NOISY circular saw action out the front. ie in front of my sitting room windows. Which are sashes and therefore not double-glazed and therefore not keeping ANY of the noise out. I didn't get enough sleep last night to be able to deal with this. |
