My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes

My silly cat, George, can't resist a box or a bag - he just has to climb right in. This picture tickled me more than usual, however, because of the brand name on the box...

Ducktastic!

I went to see Ducktastic last night at the Albery, which is exceptionally silly and rather good fun. If you like ducks, magic tricks, silly jokes, Busby Berkely-esque dance numbers and silver lame you'll absolutely love it.  It's Las Vegas via Blackpool and very funny indeed.

Oh!

Got me a job...

Company-managing Cinderella...

Going to be knackered and have no spare time for the next 6 weeks...

But I will have some money to buy Christmas presents...

And I might get to sing to some old people...

And I'll have a company car.

On balance, a good thing

Yup. As a row of tents.

Rehearsal space conversational snippet...

'Washing up, ducky?  Lord, don't ruin your beautiful hands!  Put it into Candy - that's what Candy's there for...'

Rule Britannia!

I'm off to a (late) firework party tonight, hosted by the director of the panto that I'm working on at the moment.  Yesterday afternoon he asked if I'd mind singing Rule Britannia as part of the tableau that he's staging.  I said yes, of course, being the spotlight tart that I am.  I'm slightly regretting it now, as the words just will NOT go into my head.*

I shall look something like this...

*I'm singing 4 verses, before you all start - if any of you even know one of them I'll be very surprised...

Confession

Much as it's wonderful when The Architect cooks supper, I must confess to feeling a little lost.  Maybe even a little on-edge.  Not because he is bad at cooking - quite the contrary, in fact - but because the kitchen is so very much my domain.  I find myself hovering at the doorway, eyeing his use of utensils and ingredients anxiously and having to actively control the urge to take over.  Once he's finished I can't wait to sweep in and tidy everything, obsessively checking for things put away in the wrong place.  It's not that I keep a spotlessly tidy kitchen (only boring women do that, apparently), but I have my own order.

When I was a child I remember  my mother getting very cross with our cleaning lady for tidying up all the piles of paper in the corner cupboard in the kitchen.  I couldn't understand why at the time, but now I do.  It's about territory.  Dogs may piss on lamp-posts but I prefer to stick things to my fridge and keep cupboards full of empty glass jars.

So, apologies to the feminist movement, but this is one woman who is choosing to stay in the kitchen.

Multimedia message

Ladies (or even chaps who know about such things) - where can i find a really good quality black wrap dress? Needs to be knee length at least. Any suggestions gratefully received... Ps sorry for the lazy blogging-rushed off my feet rehearsing two shows at the mo.
