Shameless Pimpage

For once, I'm not plugging myself, you'll be pleased to hear!  My friend Liz has just become a published writer here, with her short story mysteriousdeaths.com, published by those lovely, discerning people at Pulp.net - go, read, enjoy...

*Squeak!*

Hey, remember that audition that I had last week when I came home really excited because it had gone really well?  I didn't get that particular job, although it came down to the wire between me and one other girl, which I was pretty gutted about.  HOWEVER, I've just taken a call from the girl who was running the audition, who also runs a children's theatre company, and she has offered me a job for a week in June.  In POLAND!  Imagine me leaping up and down, shrieking, right now and you've pretty much got it...

The Sultan's Elephant

Today I spent my afternoon standing in the rain in central London being utterly transfixed.  The reason?  Giant puppets.  Completely fantastic - if you're in London tomorrow then go and see them.  There is an itinerary here on the official website and I really can't recommend them highly enough.  Seeing a 40 foot elephant bearing down on me in the middle of Piccadilly was both terrifying and awe-inspiring.  I'm still quite gobsmacked, to be honest.

(Sorry about the quality of the pics - I forgot my camera and had to use my phone)

The elephant at rest outside the National Gallery

The big parade - at the corner of Haymarket

Again on Haymarket

It's headed straight for me!  It actually passed within 3 feet of me just after this photo was taken.  Utterly breathtaking and I confess I felt quite emotional.

Hohoho.  Anyone else see this story in Metro this morning?  Hilarious - although I think describing someone who likes David Gray as a 'music fan' may be erroneous.

The iTunes blog game

Oh, so it's a cheaty post, but it might make you lot think.  My iTunes is on random shuffle.  I have taken lyrics from the first 20 songs to play and you have to guess what they are.  Much as it pains me to do so, I have neglected to add in the punctuation, just to make it more difficult for you.  Have fun...  (Edit: some punctuation added, along with the songs that people have already got)

1: How dare you say that my behaviour's unacceptable? So condescending, unnecessarily critical
HARDER TO BREATHE - MAROON 5 - amp

2: Those one track minds that took you for a working boy, kiss them goodbye, you shouldn't have to jump for joy

3: I'm in way over my head, now she thinks that I love her, because that's what I said, though I never think of her

4:Given time and a cheap dark room and I will show you all the love and wonder you could buy
YOUR LOVE IT LIES - GENE - Menace

5: You and I will make each night a first, every day a beginning

6: And I dug right down to the bottom of my soul to see what I had inside.  Yes, I dug right down to the bottom of my soul and I tried, I tried.
NOTHING - A CHORUS LINE - Moobs

7: Bringing in the new sound make it in oh please make it in
BEAUTIFUL - ATHLETE - Amycady

8: Take me back to 1979 so I can find my open eyes
VEHICLES AND ANIMALS - ATHLETE - Amycady

9: You might forget your manners, you might refuse to stay and so the best that I can do is pray

10: You got your demons, you got desires, well I got a few of my own

11: I really only met her about a week ago but it doesn't really matter to my heart I know

12:Does your heart sag fed up with the tag which you've been given

13: Hong Kong is present, Taipei awakes, all talk of circadian rhythm
DAYSLEEPER - REM - New Malden

14: Hello hello hello and welcome to the world

15: Living far beyond my means do you know how that feels?  I was waiting for so long I was praying to belong.

16: On the intercom she tell me to come, said she didn't have a job though she did have a son

17: The neighbours might think (baby it's bad out there) say what's in this drink (no cabs to be had out there)
BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE - TOM JONES/CERYS - amp/New Malden

18: Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
THE BEAT GOES ON - ALL SEEING I - Menace/New Malden

19: Times we spent cheating and lying wondering when we would be back by your side again
TEN SHADES OF GREY - TERRORVISION - Menace

20: There's fools and idiots sitting on the trigger.  It's depressing and it's senseless and that's why....
I LIKE CHINESE - MONTY PYTHON - Jefrey

A few clues to help you out (possibly):

One band appears twice and another appears three times in the list.  So much for random shuffling
There are 2 songs from musicals
There is one song from a classic comedy sketch show team

Oof. Why did I think it was a good idea to stay up until 3am playing the iTunes game? And why can I STILL not place no. 10 on Pete's list? Grr.
