Hi Diddly Dee, an Actor's Life for Me
"Those who agree with us may not be right, but we admire their astuteness."
Cullen Hightower
... as any of my friends on Facebook will have realised (sorry for clogging up your newsfeeds), is burlesque dancing. On my travels over the past few days I discovered the following clip on youtube. It features Michelle L'Amour on America's Got Talent, and is fab. It's tongue-in-cheek and sexy without ever being offensive, despite what one of the judges would try and have you believe. There is a longer clip of the routine, which includes Brandy's commentary at the end, in which she proclaims, 'that's not talent.' I disagree. Well - why not watch and make up your own minds.
My latest obsession ...

Oink / Website (4.7.07 15:21) I like burlesque. I'd like to take in a show at some point. Did you see the Faking It burlesque special? I really enjoyed it. I don't think the Knight Rider girl had much talent compared to that, but she was pretty good when she did the splits and waggled her bum. I'd like to learn to do that! She just seemed a bit clumsy to me, albeit with potential. |

Katja / Website (4.7.07 15:36) No, I missed that. Have a look at her website, though. This was a routine done with a prudish American audience in mind - she has a good fan dance on her website, as well as a very amusing balloon routine. Dita Von Teese is obviously the ultimate at the moment, but it's hard to find any of her stuff to be able to post it - she has a tight hold on her image, and rightly so. |

amillionpieces / Website (4.7.07 16:20) This girl rules! Burlesque is really sexy, although I must confess I'm still chuckling at the American audience. Clearly the world needs more burlesque girls! (And DVT is amazing, agreed) |

Arty / Website (4.7.07 23:59) OK I watched it, and it was hilarious how the kids covered their own eyes! But the audience were good sports, they did clap and whoop at the end. Silence would have been another story altogether. LOL sorry....DVT has the same initials as deep vein thrombosis. I may wait a long time before I can look at her without thinking that now.... I think it sucks that Manson split up with her because he was "losing his individuality". So then, why is he not single? Have you seen his new girlfriend? Just a young (19 y.o.) blonde, curly, round-faced version of Dita. Bloddy men... |

foxinthesnow / Website (5.7.07 12:13) You probably know about this, but Burlesque Not Bombs is on at the Soho Revue Bar on Sunday night. |
|
Katja / Website (5.7.07 12:20) OooOoOooh! No, I didn't know that. Thanks, Foxy. |
|
foxinthesnow / Website (5.7.07 13:56) £15 in advance, £20 on the door. There's a sit-down meal and it's all 1940s themed and it looks dead good. |

Lucy (6.7.07 15:29) I want to see a show! The Hoff seemed to like it... |
|
val / Website (6.7.07 20:02) nah sorry she wasn't that talented. Burlesque is YES a talent but she wasn't that great... |
|
Katja / Website (6.7.07 20:48) But the point is that she was being condemned just for being a burlesque dancer, not because of what she was doing in that particular routine. Yes, I've seen better. but I've also seen much, much worse. |
|
amillionpieces / Website (6.7.07 23:56) I personally have not seen near enough burlesque, and this needs to be remedied asap, methinks! |
|
Mikeachim / Website (10.7.07 13:44) Yes, burlesque is fun. And I agree with you, slagging her off for being a burlesque dancer isn't fair. Slagging her off for not doing a particularly good job of being a burlesque dancer would be more fair. Slagging her off for stealing a multi million-dollar talking car and dancing round it while it could be off solving crimes and preventing injustices in the world, extremely fair. .... Well, at least there was only one of her. When the words 'team' and 'Knight Rider' and put together, something dreadful is born. |
|
badgercheeks (12.7.07 10:46) Well, she gets a thumbs up from me! I'll recommend the Volupte Lounge even though I know a lot of you have already been there! |
|
Katja / Website (12.7.07 14:02) Ooh, I haven't been there, Bnadge. Yet ... |
