Hi Diddly Dee, an Actor's Life for Me
"Those who agree with us may not be right, but we admire their astuteness."

I have spent today driving around the country (again) visiting my various charges as they do their pantos. The Essex team did brighten my day though.... They were due to do a show at 1.15 at a prep school in Hemel Hempstead, and I planned to meet them there. After getting a little bit lost and ending up down a farm track, I eventually found the school and was told that the team had phoned to say they were stuck in traffic and might be 10 mins late. Okey dokey - I settle down with a cup of tea and prepare to wait for them. By half past the headmistress is looking rather edgy and some daft teachers have already sat their 2-year-old charges down in the hall and are now having trouble keeping them entertained. So I ring the team to find out where they are... They'd gone down the same farm track that I had - and had grounded the car completely! So I leap into my car and zoom down the hill to pick them, their set and props up. Thank God I was there, because they were a mile down the hill from the school and there was no way they'd have got all the set and props up there via shanks pony. Once I'd got them up to the school I then headed back down to see if I could get the car dislodged. I called on the very friendly people in the Farm Trust buildings and they gave a good old push, but the car was going absolutely nowhere. I was about to give up and call the RAC when one of the Farm Trust people suggests calling Paul - 'he's very practical, you know...' ...And so he proved to be! Not only did he have a good idea about cars, but he also had a tractor and a great big chain (ooer, missus) with which to drag the car out of the mud. So a big THANK YOU to Paul and all at the Box Farm Trust - we promise not to do it again....
Just off to see a man about a tractor...

(11.12.04 09:52) There are no Pauls in West Hampstead, I'm afraid to say. |
(13.12.04 21:46) No tractors either - apart from the Chelsea variety... |
(14.12.04 01:29) A few Jeep Wranglers, as you say. |
