Hi Diddly Dee, an Actor's Life for Me
"Those who agree with us may not be right, but we admire their astuteness."
Cullen Hightower
Maisy's conversation about hair colour sparked off a funny memory, which I thought I'd share with you lovely people, just to prove that, despite available evidence to the contrary, I was not always the fantastically well-groomed sex-goddess that you see before you today (ahem). When I was about 14 I was really quite blonde and so, in a rebellious 14-year-old girl kind of a way, I decided that I would dye my hair red (well, everyone does it at some point or another!) So in a slightly woussy fashion I bought a wash in wash out home kit and proceeded to apply it to my lovely blonde hair, reasoning that if it all went horribly wrong it would be gone in a week. The colour looked quite cool at first. OK, it was a bit more orange than red, but it was kind of Cathy Dennis-ish and it certainly wasn't blonde. I also had a stronger streak of colour at the front where my hair was very sun-bleached, so I had a funky kind of two-tone effect going on - way ahead of my time, I was! However, as the week went on and I washed my hair twice a day in the way that 14-year old girls do, the colour began to disappear. The back of my head went back to blonde, as promised on the packet. However, the front faded to a rather fetching (not!) shade of pale pink - and then stayed that way. None of this washing-out nonsense. I was stuck with a pale pink streak of hair that was quite definitely neither cool nor attractive. I believe it was not long after this incident that I went back to having short hair...

(4.1.05 17:01) I was bright orange the first time I did it. A certain good friend decided to try one of the Body Shop's Henna kits on me. That was my rebellious streak, and my parents didn't even notice. Mind you, Bodders went a bit mental, and I'm sure she didn't believe my lie about it being down to buying a different shampoo! |
