Video phones This morning on the bus I had to sit next to two young men playing gangsta rap at full blast on their video phone.  Now the music is not my kind of thing to start with, but when it's played on a video phone it becomes distorted and crackly and sounds doubly awful.  I don't know what it is about people with video phones, but they all seem to listen to awful music and also seem to think that everyone else wants to listen too.  On the train a few weeks ago there were a pair of teenagers playing some terrible bland r'n'b music.  The guy sitting next to them politely pointed out that nobody else wanted to listen to it so could they please turn it off, and received a torrent of abuse for his pains.  Whatever happened to the terribly English habit of self-effacement, I wonder?
