I've been tagged by Arty to play the Secret Life of Bags game, so here goes...

OK, running from back to front and left to right:

  • Brown handbag - Mulberry via Oasis *ahem*. It holds a surprising amount and looks far classier than it actually is, so I absolutely love it
  • Hair clip (clipped onto the bag handle) - always useful and I never go out without at least one hidden away somewhere
  • Order of service from my best friend's wedding yesterday afternoon
  • Pink fabric-covered notebook, where I jot down things of interest that I see every day. Some things make it into my blog, some don't, but the notebook makes interesting reading
  • Oyster card - a must when travelling in London
  • Compeed blister plasters - I have awkward feet and even shoes that were previously comfortable can suddenly start to cause problems, so I always have a pack of Compeed handy for emergencies.
  • Black leather purse which holds all my cards, along with cash. I'd be in trouble if it ever disappeared!
  • 2 personalised coasters, wedding favours from yesterday. They're wonderfully shiny and doubled very nicely as compact mirrors during the meal yesterday - ace.
  • Miniature bottle of my favourite perfume for top-up spritzing during the day.
  • My current favourite nail polish in fire engine red - perfect for satisfying my inner vamp.
  • Sunglasses. I carry them all year round - squinting is terribly ageing, dahling.
  • Pink leather pen case and pink pen - both presents from a beloved friend who was concerned about my lack of writing materials one day.
  • Pencil - a hangover from travelling by plane the other day. I wasn't sure that I would be allowed to carry a fountain pen, but didn't want to be without means of writing anything down, so dropped a pencil into my bag and haven't got round to removing it.
  • Emery board - I am never without one.
  • Equity diary - full of all those desperately important *ahem* appointments. Next week I note that I am going to the hairdresser and attending my birthday party. Excellent.
  • Mobile: nuff said.
  • Smints - well, you never know when you might be called upon to kiss George Clooney. Oh c'mon - a girl can dream...

There is so much in there. How does it all fit? It's like a tardis. I'm in awe.

what and no screwed up receipts and bits of tissue, no lose change or small peddles??

Valentia / Website (10.9.06 21:52)
*pebbles, well i guess i could have meant peddles either...

Katja / Website (10.9.06 22:04)
OK, I admit there is a screwed up flapjack wrapper in one of the end pockets, but apart from that it's fairly rubbish-free - I had a clearout quite recently.

That is quite the feat of achievment, arty is the same, you really do cram so much into bags. It's like today, I was talking to my sister and I had nowhere to put four CD's (my bag being full and me not being a woman so lacking the magic arts) and she just took them and shoved them in, the bag looked no fuller, I swear!

Katja / Website (10.9.06 23:02)
I would usually have a book in there as well, but I took it out yesterday as I didn't want to carry it around at the wedding all day.

amillionpieces / Website (10.9.06 23:31)
Ahhh, yes, I always have a book, which meant when reading war and peace, not much else got in there

I have more or less the same things in my handbag, except for a black Revlon eye pencil (just cannot do without it).
Sometimes i DO wonder how can we manage to stuff in so much in our bags.
I love yours by the way !!!

doctortripswitch / Website (11.9.06 13:01)
Ace.

Makes me feel like photographing the contents of my handbag- erm, manbag- too.

Katja / Website (11.9.06 13:06)
Excellent - in which case you're tagged, Dr T.

doctortripswitch / Website (11.9.06 15:01)
I think it would destroy the obsessively single-minded nature of my weblog.

Katja / Website (11.9.06 15:05)
I imagine your bag being full of records anyway, so that would work quite nicely. Besides, I'm nosey.

doctortripswitch / Website (11.9.06 15:15)
Hmmm. Ok.

Cigarette Sigh / Website (11.9.06 15:52)
How very prepared you are...all its missing is a gas mask and a swiss army knife! :P

Katja / Website (11.9.06 15:58)
Oh, I knew I was missing something, Ciggie!

You want to play? Pete won't do it unless another guy does too and Dr T is being coy.

Cigarette Sigh / Website (11.9.06 16:17)
Well...why not! I'll post it on Cigarette Papers though...can't trample on Malice's hallowed ground...will do it at home where the camera might be working.

Katja / Website (11.9.06 16:19)
Hooray!

doctortripswitch / Website (11.9.06 16:27)
If only I had another blog where I could do this sort of thing.

Katja / Website (11.9.06 16:30)
Ah, now that would be the ideal.

Jef (11.9.06 16:34)
My rucksack contains 5x500ml bottles of diet coke (4 of which are empty), 2 copies of Private Eye, a Jeeves and Wooster book, a hoodie and inummerable bits of rubbish. It's also much, much uglier than your bag.

Katja / Website (11.9.06 16:37)
To be fair, you'd look like a right idiot carring my bag around, Jef.

panda_eyed / Website (11.9.06 17:08)
I love that you have nail varnish - where do you apply it? I am imagining a jerky train journey and nail varnish all over fingers
OMG, my spam catcher sode is 'sperm'!

Katja / Website (11.9.06 17:10)
I did do it on the train (sshh - don't tell Oinker) but I'm very practiced at it and so managed a quite passable job, if I do say so myself.

Arty / Website (11.9.06 23:12)
Ooh I remember your bag, I lodged it between my feet at Waterloo.
Oh no, wait that was OJ's. I just kept an eye on it.

Those shiny coaster are cooool, I feel like such a magpie looking at them.

Anyway, a very smartly and practically packed bag, Katja. Well done.

Sunshine / Website (12.9.06 11:56)
i really want that pink pen case and pen thats sooo cute. I dont need it but i want it.

Katja / Website (12.9.06 12:09)
Arty: yes indeed - I carry this bag pretty much everywhere with me at the moment!

Sunny, if you talk to Pete nicely he might be able to tell you where to find such a thing...

Sunshine / Website (12.9.06 13:38)
Really.. wow.. i will.. hurrah.

Daxy-babe / Website (13.9.06 08:52)
This is a whole new world for me...
